You are probably aware that some Christians cannot resist the temptation to judge you and condemn you for 'sin' and if you are a member of the LGBT community they are often avid and fervent int their preaching. Does not Jesus command believers not to judge!
Well although not proven absolutely there are very strong indications are that sexual orientation is not something.that one has conscious control over. This being so that people cannot control their orientation why condemn and harass people who do not conform to the normative orientation (i.e. heterosexuality) just because some passages in the Bible say that it is a sin.
WE ALL SIN and ALL SINS ARE EQUAL and ANY SIN WILL DEBARE YOU FROM HEAVEN. If you are a Christian your faith will allow for your sins to be overlooked - not prevent you from sining.
Now the Biblical justification for their homophobia is some verses in Leviticus a book directed at Israelites from the Old Testament. The old testament rendered moot buy the new covenant and the ministry of Jesus Christ. There are other verses in the New Testament that purport to condemn homosexuality as a sin and these shall be addressed in a more detailed post latter. BUT EVEN IF HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN it is NO MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OTHER SIN!
JESUS commanded us that JUDGE NOT LESS THOU BE JUDGED. This means in practice shut up or all your sins will be put into the balance. Furthermore we are reminded to not worry about the moat in another's eye whilst there is a beam in your own. In other words do not worry about the sins of others that is between them and God worry about your own.
STOP Harassing people over characteristics that they cannot control.
Now I shall argue these points in more detail in another post but I needed to get this off my chest. People do not get a free pass to make others lives a misery just because your beliefs enumerate some sins and you in your prurience want to focus on a particular sexual minority whilst glossing over the larger picture. It is not your place as a Christian to condemn but to bring other closer to a faith in GOD. It is for GOD to judge not you!
